How to Enable Timer-to-Close (TTC) On Liftmaster Garage Door Openers

Timer-to-Close takes the guesswork out of closing your garage door

Everyone knows the struggle of the morning rush out the door. Keys, wallet, phone, lunch, turn off the lights, lock the door; the list of things to remember seems endless before the day even begins. Then we hop in the car, hightail it outta town and then suddenly get hit with anxiety about whether or not we closed the garage door, just as we are hitting the brakes in traffic. Luckily, our garage doors have taken it upon themselves to help us out a little each morning (or night).

Timer-to-Close (TTC) is a programmable feature that allows your garage door to automatically close after a certain amount of time. Gone are the days of having to turn around during your commute because you can’t quite remember if you closed the garage door on the way out the driveway. Timer-to-Close takes the guesswork out of your morning rush and allows you to arrive at work with some peace of mind that your home is safe (even though you did forget your lunch… again).

The Timer-to-Close feature gives you more than just some peace of mind. It also helps save money on your electric or gas bill. If your garage is connected to your home and your garage door is left open for an extended period of time, the outside climate can affect how hard your air conditioning or heating units have to work to maintain a desirable temperature. A garage door left open in the cold winter months can bring down the temperature of your home and force your home heating system to work harder, thus increasing your electric or gas bill; the same goes for the hot summertime.

Setting up Timer-to-Close is quick, easy, and worth it:

To Enable TTC: Press the Menu button on the left side of the wall control panel. Scroll until you see the TTC option. Press Enter. Select the time interval you’d like: 1, 5 or 10 minutes, or a custom entry up to 99 minutes. Press Enter. The opener will flash to indicate you’ve successfully programmed the TTC feature. The door will close automatically after the time interval you’ve selected. When the door is closing, there will be an audible and visual alert for anyone inside the garage or near the door.

To Disable TTC: Press the Menu button. Scroll until you see the TTC option. Press Enter. Press Turn Off TTC.
